My name is Iban Torres Xirau. Originally from Barcelona, I received a M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia,  and I wrote my Master Thesis about image processing in the Computer Vision department of the Technische Universität Berlin together with the Fraunhofer Institute IPK in Berlin. I started an internship in September 2013 in Technicolor‘s Image Processing Lab in Hannover, under the supervision of Dr. Jordi Salvador and Axel Kochale, and for one year I did research about super-resolution and fast search-structures.

I started my Ph.D. on EPID dosimetry for the MR-Linac in October 2014 in the Netherlands Kanker Institute – Antoni Van Leeuwenhoek (Amsterdam) linked with the Leiden UMC and sponsored by Elekta, under the supervision of Dr. Anton Mans and Prof. Dr. Uulke van der Heide.

Electronic Portal Imaging Devices (EPIDs) are currently used to verify that radiation therapy has been delivered accordingly to the planned treatment; the aim of my research is to adapt the current model for the MR-Linac, correcting and dealing with all the alterations that the signal suffers on its way towards the EPID.

My research interests on computer vision include: signal prediction, image processing, machine learning, deep learning and empirical models.

My other hobbies are: playing with my Raspberry PI and Flotilla from PIMORONI, traveling, playing decent football, and oil painting.

Other honours: Sabadell Titius Champion 2018.
